Union troops march into Alexandria, Virginia and take possession of the city.

"You have doubtless ere this learned that our Troops have marched over into Virginia and taken possession of Alexandria and that Colonel Ellsworth was shot by the proprietor of the Marshall House after having hauled down the Secession Flag which was there displayed. I will now give you the particulars of my own adventures in the same locality. You will doubtless be a little surprised to learn that I have made a voyage into the enemies quarters in search of information in the capacity of a spy or news gatherer."
