General David Hunter
Commander of the Department of the South, was earlier a Division Commander over Colonel Burnside During the Battle of Bull Run, was shot in the head early in the battle after the Skirmishers (that Colonel H. T. Sisson had command over) were put into battle on Matthews Hill.. David Hunter was also known as Lincoln's Abolitionist General. One of my favorite Civil War Generals : ) |

Major Edwin Metcalf
Major Edwin Metcalf after his time with the 3rd RI Heavy Artillery and Secessionville was promoted to the Rank of Colonel and was given Command of the 11th Rhode Island Infantry and would later return to the 3rd Heavy Artillery Rhode Island as Its Colonel. Major Metcalf was a very good friend to Colonel Sisson's family |

Major Henry T. Sisson had command of Companies B, K, & F durning the Battle of Secessionville, he was also honored with presenting the Flag of Truce after the Confederate victoy. For courage displayed in the Battle at James Island he was promoted to the rank of Colonel and was given Command of the 5th Rhode Island Heavy Artillery |
